The Task

Water Mission needs YOU, the youth of our country, to help in their efforts!! Through this webquest you will gather knowledge about water and the world water crisis. You will find ways that children and families can make a difference in our world. Let's imagine that George and Molly Greene, founders of Water Mission, have asked our group to help them gear up for the next Walk for Water.

For this webquest each team will include 4 members: a scientist, a conservationist, an Africa aid worker, and a Water Mission volunteer. As each member researches using the Internet sites provided, he/she will gain a better understanding of where our water comes from, why it is essential for human life, why conservation is important, what is meant by “world water crisis,” and what we can do to help others through organizations like Water Mission. You will share all the information you gather with your team and with others who have the same job title as you. Remember you are the expert in your field!

Once your team has a fuller picture of all these water issues, you will brainstorm ideas for a publicity campaign to support the annual Water Mission Walk for Water, which raises money to support Water Mission's work in foreign countries. Your sharing of ideas will lead to your final project – publicity for the Water Walk. This project can take many forms and will include, at a minimum, one publicity piece per team but may include two or more – this publicity campaign is in your HANDS!
